Treatments for men

At Air Aesthetics treatments are certainly not just for women. Although women do tend to talk about their looks more, many men are just as concerned about looking good as they age. And why shouldn’t you? You go to the gym and dress nicely. Your appearance says as much about you professionally, as personally.

Working long hours can make us look tired and unhealthy. A lot of men come to see me complaining that the frown lines between their eyes have become a permanent feature, making them look constantly stressed or angry.

A recent survey by Men’s Health magazine found that 40 per cent of men would consider having cosmetic work done. Male plastic surgery can look feminine and unnatural. Just look at the taut, waxy appearance of male celebs such as Kenny Rogers and David Gest after surgery. My male clients simply want to look natural and refreshed, but don’t want anyone to know about it. I find most men want short treatments with little downtime that can quickly treat the problems they previously believed they had to live without compromising their masculine looks.

We have always had a large number of men having treatments from Botox to laser skin rejuvenation. However we have seen the number of men we treat increase from 15% at the start of last year to 25% recently.

Although the treatments that men and women have may involve the same product, the way the treatment is carried out varies significantly. Take Botox for example; in a woman we aim to maintain the high arched eyebrow.  Male eyebrows are much straighter and we avoid causing any arching. However this needs to be done carefully and skilfully to avoid paralysing the forehead or causing drooping of the eyebrow.
