Whether it’s an air kiss or a full-on romantic smooch Christmas certainly is the time of year when lips are kept well and truly busy. But what can we do if our lips are feeling… a little less voluptuous than they used to be? Aesthetics expert Dr Claire Oliver (BDS) shares her Top Tips for lip filler treatments for Enjoying Full Lips!
CHOOSE A NON-PERMANENT PRODUCT
The number of lip filler treatments rises significantly at this time of year. At Air Aesthetics, we only use quality products which are natural hyaluronic acid and FDA-approved. Hyaluronic acid is produced in our own skin cells naturally in a bid to maintain moisture levels. Juvederm and Belotero are non-permanent fillers which are naturally and safely broken down by the body and their effect gradually fades away. To maintain fuller lips, you can simply choose to have ‘touch-up’ procedures.
THE BOTTOM LIP SHOULD ALWAYS BE FULLER
Did you know that the bottom lip should always be fuller than the top lip? You know it instinctively when you see someone who has been, in my opinion, over-treated and has a very over-enhanced, unnatural look – usually because both lips have been treated the same and, as a result, the lips take on a real pout look.
CUPID’S BOW
An experienced medical aesthetician will use a small amount of dermal filler to accentuate the two peaks of your “Cupid’s Bow,” which can give a more youthful, poutier appearance to your upper lip.
LESS IS MOST DEFINITELY MORE!
I believe that it’s our responsibility, as ethical practitioners, not to over-treat even if this is the request. Results should be natural-looking lips and do remember that treatment can always be topped up, yet it takes many months for it to wear off!
