Coolsculpting Neck: How to Lose Turkey Neck

19th June 2026

CoolSculpting neck treatment reduces a turkey neck by freezing and clearing the pocket of fat under the chin and jaw, with no surgery, needles or downtime. It uses controlled cooling, known as cryolipolysis, to target submental fat that diet and exercise rarely shift. Your body removes those fat cells naturally over the weeks that follow, leaving a smoother neck and a sharper jawline. The key thing to know early: this works on fat, so it suits a turkey neck caused by fullness rather than loose skin. At Air Aesthetics & Wellness Clinics we offer CoolSculpting® Elite, the latest version of the treatment.

This guide covers what causes a turkey neck, how CoolSculpting neck treatment works, who it suits, what results to expect and what it costs.

What Is a Turkey Neck?

A turkey neck is the soft, loose look that develops under the chin and along the front of the neck. Two things tend to cause it: a build-up of fat below the jaw, and skin that has lost some of its firmness with age.

Genetics decide a lot of this. You can be slim and still carry fat under the chin, and skin naturally loosens as collagen drops over time. Working out which one is driving your turkey neck matters, because the right treatment is different for fat than it is for loose skin.

Can CoolSculpting Get Rid of a Turkey Neck?

CoolSculpting can reduce a turkey neck when fat is the main cause. The treatment freezes the fat cells under your chin and neck, your body clears them and the area becomes flatter and more defined. People who want to freeze neck fat without surgery find it a comfortable way to do it.

If your turkey neck is mostly loose, hanging skin rather than fat, fat reduction will not be enough on its own. In that case a skin tightening treatment is the better route, and some people combine the two for a fuller change. A consultation is the way to tell which applies to you.

How CoolSculpting Neck Treatment Works

CoolSculpting works on a simple idea: fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than the skin, muscle and nerves around them. A small applicator cools the targeted fat to a temperature that crystallises the cells without harming the surrounding tissue. Your body then clears the dead cells through its lymphatic system. You can read more about what fat freezing involves and the science of cryolipolysis.

A session for the neck takes around 40 minutes. Full fat clearance happens over 12 to 16 weeks, with results best measured at 16 weeks. The fat cells removed do not come back.

At Air Aesthetics we use CoolSculpting® Elite, the latest version of the system, and Air is a centre of excellence for CoolSculpting® and one of only a few UK clinics to offer the Elite version.

Is CoolSculpting Neck Right for You?

The best candidate has a soft, pinchable pad of coolsculpting neck fat under the chin and is within 14kg of their target weight. CoolSculpting is a body contouring treatment, not a weight loss method, so it works on a defined pocket of fat rather than overall size.

If loose skin is the main issue, skin tightening treatments like Ultherapy® or Sofwave™ lift and firm the area instead. There is no way to lose a turkey neck overnight, so be wary of any clinic promising one. The safest start is a face-to-face assessment with a qualified, medically trained practitioner, and the NHS has clear advice on what to check before any cosmetic procedure.

CoolSculpting Neck Before and After: What Results to Expect

Results build gradually rather than appearing overnight. As the fat cells clear, the area under your jaw flattens and the neck looks smoother. Most people need one or two sessions. Published clinical data suggests cryolipolysis can reduce the treated fat layer by roughly 27 percent per cycle.

At your consultation your practitioner can show you CoolSculpting neck before and after photos so you have a realistic picture of what the treatment can do for your jaw and neck shape.

CoolSculpting Neck and Chin Together

A turkey neck and a double chin tend to sit together, since both come from fat in the submental area. Treating coolsculpting neck and chin in one plan gives a more even, defined result along the whole jawline. You can read more about treating fullness under the chin as part of the same approach.

How Much Does CoolSculpting Neck Cost?

Coolsculpting neck cost depends on how many sessions and applicators you need, which is set at your consultation rather than fixed as a single price. For a breakdown of pricing across treatment areas, see our guide to how much CoolSculpting® costs in the UK.

What to Do After CoolSculpting Your Neck

There is no recovery time, and you can return to your normal day straight after. The treated area may look red, feel swollen, numb or tender, and these effects settle over the days that follow. Numbness can last a couple of weeks and is nothing to worry about.

To support your result, drink plenty of water, eat well and stay active. Keeping your weight stable protects the outcome, since the fat cells left in the area can still grow if you gain weight.

CoolSculpting Neck FAQs

Will my turkey neck go away?

When fat is the cause, CoolSculpting can reduce a turkey neck and the result lasts, as the treated fat cells do not return. If loose skin is the main issue, a skin tightening treatment will do more, and your practitioner can recommend the right plan at a consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people need one or two sessions for the neck. The number depends on how much fat is present and the result you want, which your practitioner confirms at your consultation.

Will the fat come back after CoolSculpting?

The fat cells cleared during treatment are gone for good. The fat cells left in the area can still grow if you gain weight, so a stable, healthy lifestyle keeps your result looking its best.

How soon will I see results?

Some people notice a change from around six to eight weeks. Full results show at about 16 weeks, once your body has cleared the treated fat cells.
