As we age we undergo something called ‘facial descent’ whereby we lose a great deal of the fat from our face, especially around the temples, eyes, mouth and cheek area. ‘Facial descent’ is caused by three key occurrences;

At Air Aesthetics we use brands such as Juvederm, Teosyal and Belotero which are natural hyaluronic acid and which are FDA-approved for safety and efficacy. (US Food and Drug Administration). Hyaluronic acid is produced in our own skin cells naturally in a bid to maintain moisture levels. Once the filler is injected it sits below the skin providing structure and plumping out the skin. We use non-permanent filler which is naturally broken down by the body and its effect gradually fades away. However, you can choose to have ‘touch up’ procedures carried out to maintain the look created by Dermal Facial Fillers.

Aftercare

You will be provided with aftercare advise to ensure your treatment achieves the results you are looking for and a review appointment at 14 days is planned to check results.

What we always say to our clients about any of the treatments we perform – but especially fillers and anti-wrinkle injections – is that no-one should know that you’ve had anything done.

The only comment you should get is, “Wow, you look great!” and never “Oh you look different. Have you had something done?”

During your dermal facial filler for women treatment, we will assess your face and expressions, discuss the issues you may have and discuss the areas which require treatment.

The treatment usually takes around 20 minutes and the results will be visible immediately afterwards. In some cases, some swelling may be experienced. This will take no more than a couple of weeks to settle down if it does occur.

You’ll be able to return to your usual activities straight away. However, at Air Aesthetics we recommend that you wait at least seven days before returning to strenuous exercise including yoga or having a facial.

It’s important to ask lots of questions and fully explore all options available to you. Here are the most popular questions asked.

At Air Aesthetics we primarily use Juvederm and Belotero which are natural hyaluronic acid and which are FDA-cleared.  Hyaluronic acid is produced in our own skin cells naturally in a bid to maintain moisture levels.  Once the filler is injected it sits below the skin providing structure and plumping out the skin.  Juvederm and Belotero are non-permanent filler which is naturally broken down by the body and its effect gradually fades away.  However, you can choose to have ‘touch up’ procedures carried out to maintain the look created by Dermal Facial Fillers.

The best practitioners, in our opinion, are those that use a combination of different products to specifically suit the area being treated.  For instance, at Air Aesthetics we use Juverderm Voluma to create volume to the face and combine it with Juverderm Volbella to add subtle volume to lips.

There are many Dermal Facial Filler options available and in the UK alone there are over 70 different brands available.  Some are regulated and some not ; some are FDA-cleared and some are not.  Examples of other reputable Dermal Facial Fillers include;

  • Juvederm Volbella; FDA-cleared injectable specifically designed to plump the lips and minimise the appearance of fine lines around the mouth.  Also known as perioral rhytids or perioral lines (perioral lines previously being difficult to treat)
  • Juvederm Ultra; is an advanced, cohesive, 3D hyaluronic acid matrix dermal filler with a local anaesthetic to provide more comfort both during and after injection.  Again this product is specifically designed for lips
  • Juvederm Voluma; is the only hyaluronic acid filler which is FDA-cleared to instantly add volume to the cheek area

 

Prior to treatment you should undergo a full medical consultation. During this consultation ASK your practitioner which product(s) they intend to use. Also ask how long you should expect it to last, whether there may be any possible side effects and the care you need to follow afterwards, then do your own research to ensure that what you are being told is, in fact, 100% correct.
The treatment might feel uncomfortable but it should not be painful. The treatment usually takes around 20 minutes and the results will be visible immediately afterwards. In some cases, some swelling may be experienced. This will take no more than a couple of weeks to settle down if it does occur.

You may also notice some slight redness, tenderness, a faint bubble-like appearance or an itching sensation in the treated area immediately afterwards. These side-effects are a normal result of the injection and will generally disappear gradually over a period of 7 – 14 days.

All this said fillers require no downtime. You’ll be able to return to your usual activities straight away. However, at Air Aesthetics we recommend that you wait at least seven days before returning to strenuous exercise including yoga or having a facial, microdermabrasion or peel. You will be given aftercare advice to ensure your treatment achieves the best results possible.
We are now, sadly, seeing more and more negative press and controversy about with the use of fillers. This coverage usually involves stories about overtreatment and very unnatural results as well as complications. This, quite rightly, makes many people then feel concerned and reluctant to have the treatment which is such a shame because when the right product is in the right hands it can make someone feel so much better about themselves.

Our response is to say that it’s our responsibility, as ethical practitioners, not to over treat and essentially disfigure people even if this is what they request. We must instead try to educate people and guide them towards more natural results. Unfortunately, though some practitioners, who we find are generally non-medically trained, like the very over enhanced, unnatural look we’re seeing more and more of.

That all said the aesthetics industry has campaigned successfully to have this area of the industry regulated so fillers can only be injected now by an appropriate person by which we mean a medically qualified professional and NOT a beautician or hairdresser. So please, do be careful and always look for a reputable medically led clinic when considering having an aesthetic treatment such as Dermal Facial Fillers.
