Sofwave™ For Women

Sofwave™ for women is a non-surgical skin lifting treatment that uses synchronised ultrasound energy to stimulate fresh collagen and elastin in the mid-dermis. The result is firmer, lifted skin across the face, neck and body with no needles, no surgery and no downtime.
At Air Aesthetics & Wellness Clinics, Sofwave™ is delivered on FDA-approved medical-grade devices under the supervision of Medical Director Dr Claire Oliver (GDC 70918).

AWARD WINNING AESTHETICS & WELLNESS CLINICS

Air Aesthetics is a multi-award-winning, doctor-led clinic group with five locations across the Midlands and South East. Sofwave™ for women sits within a wider treatment menu built around collagen stimulation, skin tightening for women and complete skin rejuvenation.

How Sofwave™ Works For Women

Sofwave™ targets the mid-dermal layer of the skin at a depth of around 1.5mm. At this depth, precise thermal energy creates a controlled wound-healing response. The skin's own repair mechanism produces fresh collagen and elastin fibres, gradually tightening, smoothing and lifting the skin over the weeks following treatment.

The technology behind it is Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB). Multiple parallel beams of ultrasound energy are delivered together, which produces more uniform heating across the treatment zone than older single-beam systems. An integrated cooling mechanism protects the surface of the skin throughout, so the epidermis stays comfortable while the regenerative work happens underneath.

A single face session takes 30 to 45 minutes. There is no recovery time. You can return to work, apply make-up and continue your day immediately.

Why Sofwave™ Suits Women

circle number icon
Sofwave™ for women addresses the most common facial concerns linked to ageing: loss of definition along the jawline, sagging around the jowls, brow drop, crows feet, neck laxity and crepiness across the décolletage. These changes are driven by collagen loss, volume redistribution and weakening of the structural support in the skin.
circle number icon
Women lose approximately 30% of their skin's collagen in the first five years of menopause with continued loss of 2% each year after that. This accelerated loss is why visible change often becomes obvious in the late 40s and 50s.

Sofwave™ works with biology. Triggering fresh collagen synthesis restores some of the structural integrity lost over time. The treatment suits women from their late 30s through to their 70s, and it is a strong option for women navigating perimenopause and menopause when hormonal shifts speed up collagen loss.

Air Aesthetics also offers dedicated menopause and wellbeing coaching alongside aesthetic treatment for women who want broader support during this stage of life.

Sofwave™ Compared To Other Skin Lifting Options

Understanding how Sofwave™ for women fits alongside other treatments helps you make an informed decision. Every plan at Air Aesthetics begins with a doctor-led consultation, but the overview below sets out the landscape.

Sofwave™ And Ultherapy®

Ultherapy® for women  reaches deeper, targeting the SMAS layer, which is the same foundational layer addressed in surgical facelifts. Ultherapy® is the only FDA-cleared treatment to lift from the SMAS, which makes it well suited to women with more advanced laxity who want the most significant non-surgical lift available. Sofwave™ works at a shallower depth. Both produce results over time as collagen rebuilds. A full breakdown sits on our Sofwave™ vs Ultherapy® comparison page.

Sofwave™ And Microneedling

Our medical microneedling treatments, Collagen Induction Therapy and Secret™ RF  create micro-channels in the skin to trigger repair. Secret™ RF adds radiofrequency energy through the needles for deeper regeneration. These work well for women with skin texture concerns, scarring or stretch marks. Sofwave™ is a better fit when the priority is lifting and tightening over surface texture. The detailed comparison sits on our Sofwave™ vs microneedling guide.

Sofwave™ And Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers for women restore lost volume and can reposition structural landmarks. They address volume loss. Sofwave™ addresses skin laxity. Many women see better outcomes from combining both: fillers restore volume while Sofwave™ improves the quality and firmness of the overlying skin.

What To Expect At Your Sofwave™ Appointment

Consultation
Every Sofwave™ journey at Air Aesthetics begins with a clinical consultation, overseen by Medical Director Dr Claire Oliver (GDC 70918). This is where the team identifies treatment areas, discusses realistic outcomes and builds your plan around the Air 3-Step approach.

The Treatment Session
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area around 30 minutes before the session. The Sofwave™ handpiece moves across the skin in passes. You feel warmth under the skin as the ultrasound energy is delivered. Integrated cooling keeps the surface comfortable throughout. Most women find the sensation manageable and brief.
A full face takes 30 to 45 minutes. Neck and décolletage add time on top.

After Treatment
Sofwave™ leaves minimal traces afterwards. Some women notice mild redness or sensitivity for a few hours. Both settle without intervention. There is no swelling, bruising or peeling. Make-up can go on immediately. No special aftercare is required.

When Results Appear
Collagen regeneration takes time. Most women notice firmer, lifted skin from around 4 to 6 weeks, with the clearest result appearing at the 12-16 week mark. We look to measure results at 16 weeks as 2 skin cycles will have taken place at this stage.

Sofwave™ For Women At Different Life Stages

Late 30s

Collagen loss starts to show in subtle ways. Lines around the eyes deepen. The jawline begins to lose its sharpness. Sofwave™ at this stage works as both a corrective and preventative measure, building a collagen reserve that slows the rate of visible change over the coming years. Many women in this age group choose Sofwave™ as part of a wider approach to collagen banking.

40s

The 40s are when many women first seek a serious non-surgical lifting option. Brow position lowers. Jawline definition softens. Sofwave™ delivers meaningful improvement across these areas and is a strong fit for women addressing early to moderate laxity before it progresses.

50s & through menopause

Perimenopause and menopause speed up the rate of skin change. Lower oestrogen levels reduce the skin's ability to retain moisture and produce collagen on its own. Sofwave™ provides an external stimulus for collagen at exactly the point when the body's own production has slowed. For women in this stage, Sofwave™ is commonly combined with regenerative treatments such as polynucleotides for a fuller approach to skin quality. Air Aesthetics also runs a dedicated menopause treatment programme for women managing wider symptoms.

60s & Beyond

Sofwave™ is valid and effective for people in their 60s and 70s. More advanced laxity may mean the strongest outcomes come from combining Sofwave™ with other treatments, but it still delivers real firmer, lifted improvement at this age. The absence of downtime matters especially to women who would not commit to surgical recovery.
Sofwave™ On The Body
Sofwave™ is not limited to the face. The device is FDA-cleared for body use across the neck, décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, thighs and knees.
Women who have experienced significant changes in skin quality on the body, whether after weight loss, pregnancy or as a function of age, find Sofwave™ to be one of the most accessible body-tightening options available.
Sofwave™ and Coolsculpting Elite together
It sits well alongside CoolSculpting® Elite  for women addressing both fat reduction and skin laxity in the same area. Air Aesthetics is one of the few UK centres offering the Elite version of CoolSculpting®, which delivers a clinically proven 27% - 51% reduction in treated fat.
For women with concerns around bingo wings, loose skin around the knees or laxity in the abdominal area after pregnancy, the clinical team can advise on whether Sofwave™ on its own or as part of a wider plan is the right approach. The full body treatments  menu sets out the range.

Candidacy: Is Sofwave™ Right For You?

Sofwave™ for women suits a broad range of skin types, tones and ages. The table below sets out the typical good candidate profile.

Better Suited To A Combined Or Alternative Approach:

Sofwave™ For Postpartum Women

Pregnancy and the postpartum period bring significant changes to the skin. Volume redistribution, hormonal shifts and the physical demands of pregnancy and delivery affect skin quality on the face and body. Many postpartum women find that skin on the abdomen, around the breasts and on the inner thighs lacks the firmness it had before.
Sofwave™ is well matched for postpartum women once breastfeeding has finished and the body has stabilised. It carries no risk of needle-based trauma and requires no recovery time, both significant advantages for women managing the demands of a new baby. The treatment can be applied to body areas as well as the face, which makes it relevant for women who want to address skin quality across multiple zones following pregnancy.
A consultation confirms the right timing and approach. For postpartum women also concerned about stretch marks, Secret™ RF, medical microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy may be recommended alongside or in place of Sofwave™ depending on the severity of the concern.

Combining Sofwave™ With Other Treatments

The strongest outcomes for women come from combining Sofwave™ with complementary treatments. The right combination depends entirely on individual concerns and goals, which is why every Air Aesthetics journey begins with a clinical consultation.
A consultation confirms the right timing and approach. For postpartum women also concerned about stretch marks, Secret™ RF, medical microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy may be recommended alongside or in place of Sofwave™ depending on the severity of the concern.
Common combinations include:
Sofwave™ and anti-wrinkle injections - Sofwave™ addresses laxity and skin quality. Anti-wrinkle injections address dynamic lines from muscle movement. Together they cover two separate drivers of facial ageing.
Sofwave™ and polynucleotides -Polynucleotides improve hydration, elasticity and skin health at a cellular level. Sofwave™ delivers structural lift. The combination works well for women in their 50s and beyond who want both quality and firmness addressed at once.
Sofwave™ and HydraFacial®. HydraFacial® addresses surface skin health, congestion and radiance. Sofwave™ works deeper. Scheduling HydraFacial® in the weeks following Sofwave™ enhances the overall skin quality outcome.
Sofwave™ and CoolSculpting® Elite - For women addressing body concerns, pairing Sofwave™ with CoolSculpting® Elite fat reduction targets both fat and skin laxity in the same area.

Sofwave™ For Women FAQs

Sofwave™ works for older women and delivers visible improvement in firmer, lifted skin across a wide age range, including women in their 60s and 70s. The collagen stimulation triggered by the treatment remains effective regardless of age, though the degree of improvement varies with the extent of existing skin laxity. Women with more advanced laxity may see the strongest outcome from combining Sofwave™ with Ultherapy® or dermal fillers to address both skin quality and volume loss. A consultation at Air Aesthetics confirms the right approach for your presentation.
Sofwave™ is worth it for women seeking non-surgical skin lifting with no recovery time and a real clinical evidence base behind it. The treatment stimulates the skin's own collagen production, so results develop gradually and naturally over 8 to 12 weeks. Women who want a noticeable lift without surgery, needles or downtime consistently find Sofwave™ a worthwhile investment.
The cost of Sofwave™ at Air Aesthetics depends on the treatment area, the number of passes and whether additional treatments are included in the plan. Pricing varies by treatment scope, so an accurate figure comes from a consultation. Air Aesthetics offers 0% interest-free finance across qualifying treatments, which makes Sofwave™ accessible without requiring the full cost upfront. The treatment prices page gives a general overview.
Whether Sofwave™ is the right treatment depends on the individual woman's concerns, skin condition and goals. For women with more significant laxity who want the deepest non-surgical lift available, Ultherapy® is the stronger option because it reaches the SMAS layer. For women with skin texture concerns, scarring or stretch marks, Secret™ RF microneedling is more appropriate. Sofwave™ excels for women who want reliable lifting and collagen stimulation with a comfortable treatment experience and zero downtime. The Sofwave™ vs Ultherapy®  page sets out a detailed comparison.
Men are equally good candidates for Sofwave™ in terms of the technology's effectiveness. The collagen stimulation mechanism works identically across male and female skin. Skin structure, thickness and the pattern of ageing differ between men and women, which is why treatment plans are tailored individually at Air Aesthetics. Men tend to have thicker skin, which can influence the sensation during treatment and the rate at which results become visible. Both sexes benefit from the same firmer, lifted improvements following a correctly performed Sofwave™.
Postpartum women are good candidates for Sofwave™ once they have finished breastfeeding and their body has returned to a stable hormonal state. Pregnancy can cause significant changes to skin quality across the face, abdomen, upper arms and thighs, and Sofwave™ addresses the laxity and loss of firmness that follow. The treatment involves no needles, no downtime and no recovery period, which suits the practical realities of new motherhood. A consultation at Air Aesthetics confirms the right timing and whether Sofwave™ alone or in combination with other treatments such as Collagen Induction Therapy best suits your postpartum concerns.
The number of Sofwave™ sessions needed for women varies with the degree of laxity, the areas being treated and individual skin response. Most women achieve their desired result with a single treatment session, with results developing over 3 to 6 months as collagen regeneration progresses. Some women with more advanced skin changes benefit from a second session at the 6-month mark to consolidate and extend the result. Maintenance sessions every 12 to 18 months help sustain the improvement long-term. Your clinician at Air Aesthetics advises on the right plan during consultation.
Sofwave™ treats both the face and body in women and is FDA-cleared for use across multiple zones. On the face, the most commonly treated areas are the forehead, brow, cheeks, jawline and neck. On the body, Sofwave™ is used for laxity on the décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, thighs, inner knees and other areas where skin quality has declined. For women combining Sofwave™ body treatment with fat reduction, Air Aesthetics offers CoolSculpting® Elite as a complementary option that addresses both the volume of fat and the quality of the overlying skin within a coordinated plan.
