What are Thread Veins
Known medically as telangiectasia, they appear when blood vessels become enlarged which cause the veins to appear broken.
The Causes
Sun exposure, genetics or excessive alcohol consumption can all result in the meappearing red or purple in colour. Facial veins may also be hereditary or as a result of a variety of factors including damage from wind and extremes of temperature. The over use of steroid creams and certain auto immune conditions may also induce thread veins. Often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process or as a part of a skin condition called rosacea. We understand that for men, thread vein removal is often a popular treatment because these veins can be very difficult to disguise without the option of cosmetics.

Advanced Electrolysis
Advanced electrolysis quickly and effectively treats facial veins, broken capillaries and blemishes with no scarring. Results are often instantaneous and involve minimal downtime. Electrolysis effectively treats the following conditions:

Lynton IPL (Intense Pulse Light)

Customised energy selections are made based on the treatment and skin colour. Cool gel is applied to the treatment area and then short pulses of light are released through the IPL hand piece on to the skin. The light is turned to heat and absorbed by the melanin and haemoglobin on the surface of the skin, heating pigmentation and superficial blood vessels to a point where they are destroyed. The hand piece is moved around the treatment area and the process is repeated. Protective eye goggles are worn during the treatment.

Is electrolysis safe?
Electrolysis has been used as a treatment for over 100 years and so is very well understood. STEREX invented the disposable sterile electrolysis probe in 1982, which revolutionised patient safety and modern treatments have an extremely strong safety record. STEREX quality and training continues to make it the world leader in electrolysis.
What are the side effects?
Most patients experience redness on the treated area for up to 48 hours. Skin crusting maybe be visible for up to 14 days. It is important that you leave the crusting to fall away naturally to prevent pigment changes or scarring.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
You can return to work and normal activities immediately after a treatment, but you should avoid for 48 hours: extreme temperatures, swimming pools, spas and skin sensitisers such as perfume, fake tan and jewellery on the area.
Who should have electrolysis?
Anyone who is healthy and does not have any skin diseases or active infections can be treated. However, during your personal consultation should we have concerns regarding your blemish we will ask you to see your GP to check it before we start any treatment.

How does the treatment work?
Light energy is applied to the affected area where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels, but not by the surrounding skin, heating them to point where the blood in the targeted blood vessel coagulates. This causes the vein to break down. The damaged veins are gradually dissolved and removed by the body’s immune system leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
How is the treatment carried out?
The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people. Best results are obtained for those with fair skin, and there is less chance of side effects.
How many treatments are necessary?
It does depend on the severity of the blemish, however, typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.
