Until recently, the only method of treating a sagging eyelid was to surgically cut away the loose skin. What happens during treatment?
For your comfort, the eye area will be numbed with cream. Once ready, Dr Claire Oliver will train the plasma beam using multiple shots spaced closely together on the upper, lower and/or both eyelids as required. This can take up to around 30 minutes.
After the treatment?
Where individual plasma shots have been given, very small brown spots appear which will flake off after 2-5 days. We recommend allowing these spots to fall off naturally to prevent infection or scarring.
The area will often be red and warm immediately after the procedure and
it is not unusual to experience several days of swelling in the eye area which may also be tender to the touch for the first few days after treatment. We recommend applying a broad-spectrum sun screen to protect the area which should be kept dry and clean until full healing has completed.
How many treatments will I need to get the desired result?
To achieve a similar result to surgery, it is recommended that you have 2 to 3 treatments at 6-weekly intervals. The results are permanent. Your personal treatment programme will be bespoke to you depending on your requirements.
Is plasma technology the same as laser treatment?
No – they have differing operating principles. Laser uses photons to treat, vaporise and modify tissues. It absorbs energy by the tissues in a different way. Plexr is a Micro Plasma Generator clinically proven to shrink the epidermal layer but NOT damage the basal membrane (basal lamina). As a result, there is no thermal damage and an absence of necrotic, dying tissue.
