 What is Ultherapy ®? Collagen and elastin production, which holds the skin taut and younger-looking, shuts down gradually from our late twenty’s onwards and our fat pads move downwards in the facial area leaving us with heaviness around the brow and jawline. Our skin also becomes more lax.
Ultherapy ® works to actually stimulate your collagen and elastin to wake up and act as in your youth. The result is a gradual lifting of the skin minimising laxity so you look fresher and more youthful. Typical treatment areas are brows, cheek area, jawline and neck. Ultherapy ® can also be used on the arms and over the knees.
How does Ultherapy® work?
Using targeted ultrasound energy Ultherapy® initiates the body’s natural response, known as neocollagenesis, to produce fresh, new collagen and elastic. Focused ultrasound energy is delivered non-invasively and selectively into the dermal layer as well as the skin’s deep support structures without affecting intervening tissue. This is done around the eyes, cheeks and upper neck. Dermal Facial Fillers and Ultherapy® can be used together.
What Happens During a Ultherapy® Treatment?
After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated we apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin. Next, we use Ultherapy®’s ultrasound imaging to first see deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy before delivering the focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface.
During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated.
Ultherapy® treatments do depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan, however, a face and neck procedure takes 60 – 90 minutes while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
Does the Ultherapy® Treatment Hurt?
Best known as the non-invasive alternative to a face lift Ultherapy® involves no needles or scalpels, there’s no downtime and, best of all, no scarring. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

How does Ultherapy® work?
Ultherapy® is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment that stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin deep within the skin. Ultherapy® uses precise ultrasound energy to target the deep structural layers of the skin without disrupting the skin’s surface. After treatment, the body’s tissue repair process stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, creating a natural lifting effect.
How many Ultherapy® treatments will I need?
Most clients need just one treatment, however, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual’s collagen-building process some clients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age future touch-up treatments can help clients keep pace with the body’s natural ageing process.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
You may see some initial lift, but the ultimate results will take place over 2 – 3 months as the growth of new collagen and elastin replaces old tissue targeted by the treatment. A single Ultherapy® treatment can give a lasting effect for over a year in some people and we are happy to advise you on the likely outcomes for you as part of your free initial consultation.
How many treatments will I need?
Typically, most clients will see benefits after a single treatment. However, additional benefit can be achieved with more treatments if desired.
