Cellulite is characterised by the appearance of lumpy, dimpled skin, typically on the thighs, hips, and buttocks. It is caused by subcutaneous fat, the layer that lies just beneath the skin. The condition is more common in women due to the way fat is typically distributed in the female body.

There are three main types of cellulite:

Hard Cellulite: The skin feels firm and can be tender to the touch.

Soft Cellulite: The skin has a spongy appearance and is not painful.

Oedematous Cellulite: Caused by poor circulation and worsened by fluid retention, this is often the most difficult type of cellulite to treat.
